The board has been informed of several minor crimes going on in the community. This does not in any way mean that if you had a crime done to you, that the board is saying it is minor. Each case is different, however, there needs to be a clear definition of what the board is responsible for and what the police are responsible for. An actual crime of stealing something from your villa or car is the responsibility of the police, not the board. If your car or any of your personal property is vandalized, it is the responsibility of the police to investigate and make a report.
The board has zero liability to hold anyone responsible for any crime done to you or your property. They are residents, too, and will need to call the police if any crime is done to them as well. Please communicate with your neighbors about what is going on in your cul de sac or on your street. Keep an eye open for each other. A resident witnessed another resident backing into a parked car and then leaving. The resident contacted the resident whose car was backed into and the police were called. Now, the board does need to know when a crime has occurred. Please report all crime and vandalism to Gary Grant, our Property Manager. You can also leave a note in the slot of the office door in the club house. This way, the board can decide whether or not there is something they can do about minor crimes or vandalism being done in our community, but they cannot replace the police. Also, if someone comes to your door soliciting, it is up to you to either ask them to not come to your door again or call the police for trespassing.
Board members do not have any more power than you do to stop solicitors. There are several signs posted at the entrance to our community stating no trespassing or soliciting. These signs were put there by suggestion of the Sheriff's Office.
